This piece is one in a series of mixed media collages commenting on the distribution of wealth, particularly in America. I painted layers of different shades of black and blue ink to create the surface. The circles cut out of gold decorative paper create the orb of coins. I typed the phrase, the poor always pay a tribute in Latin on Japanese watercolor paper, cut-out the sentences, and then glued them to the paper in a staggered pattern. The staggered pattern is meant to evoke computer code or a spiritual chant. pauperes semper tributa pendunt
