This piece is one in a series of mixed media collages commenting on the distribution of wealth, particularly in America. The paper is Khadi paper handmade in South India. I painted layers of different shades of black and blue ink to create the surface. The circles cut out of gold paper are used to create the orb. I stamped Japanese watercolor paper with the word “Privileged,” a relic from the pre-electronic file age, cut out the pieces, and then glued them to the paper in a staggered pattern. The staggered pattern is meant to evoke computer code or a spiritual chant.
